The Devon and Cornwall Travel Club is a non-profit making organisation which was born in 1998 following an overland trip around Jordan and Syria undertaken by Mags Rivett, where she met someone from a travel club in Birmingham. The idea of being able to talk about the more unusual places she wanted to visit with people who weren’t horrified to consider some of the countries that fascinated her, prompted her to place a small ad in the travel magazine “Wanderlust”.

The objective was to find like minded people in Devon & Cornwall who were interested in travelling to extraordinary places and doing fascinating things. Eight people answered that advert from such far flung places as Newquay and Exeter, and met up for a glass or two at Dingly Dell in Plymouth to chat about travel.
